A VIRTUAL WINE TASTING

A VIRTUAL WINE TASTING

A VIRTUAL WINE TASTING

Firstly, discover our philosophy of vine and wine.

Our wine objective : most of the work is done in the vineyard. We have chosen to practice a viticulture rationale, both traditional and innovative. It is based on experience and common sense. It is respectful of nature, the plant and its environment.

Our oenological objective : elaborate wines in power and elegance, respecting the quality and uniqueness of each of our terroirs. Our method is to name each of our cuvées according to the characteristics of the terroirs that have born them.

Due to this method, you can start the virtual tasting in the vineyards of the Château Grand Moulin.

Get off to a fruity and fresh start with our Grandes Vignes white, rosé and red vines. You are in the commune of Luc on the first terrace of the Orbieu River, with a view of the building of the Grand Moulin. You walk on alluvial soils deposited by the river. Here you are in large renovated plots, established as the Grandes Vignes, since the early 2000s.

Get off the beaten path and treat yourself to 3 other vintages, signed by Jean-Noël Bousquet. Let yourself be tempted by the 100% Carignan of the parcel La Pège in Luc-sur-Orbieu. For the record, you are now walking in the first vine bought by Jean-Noël Bousquet in 1973. A once poor and unproductive land that was baptized Pège in Occitan on which more than 100 year old Carignan still grows and produces a wine of character; racy and tannic. Then revel in another single grape variety wine; a fruity and juicy 100% Cinsault baptized « Le 49.3 » because it was planted in March 1949 at the evocative place of Montplaisir in Lézignan. You can also enjoy « La CSG », a rich and delicious wine made of Carignan, Syrah and Grenache, located in the heart of the pine forest on the heights of Lézignan-Corbières.

Now take the walk to Luc. You leave les Grandes Vignes to climb to the second terrace, called the high terrace of the Orbieu. There you reach the plateau between Luc and Lézignan, a millennial terroir crossed by the ancient routes of the Romans. We are on rolled pebble soil, planted with Vieilles Vignes of Carignan and Grenache (60 years old and more) and Syrah and Mourvèdre. You will discover a traditional Corbières wine aged in oak barrels; a full-bodied, fruity red and an exotic white.

Afterwards, transport yourself to our exceptional terroirs. To the north on the northern limit of the Corbières, you will see the area Terres Rouges, (“red earth”) a hill facing south marking the boundary between Lézignan and Conilhac. On the other side you can see the sandstones of Boutenac; a hill covered with sandy limestone.

The Terres Rouges were cleared in the 1980s and then planted with Syrah, a « tailor-made » early-ripening grape variety for these cold, clay and limestone lands. At the top of the hill the old Grenache vines were wisely preserved to complete the assembly of an atypical, spicy wine.

Conversely, the Grès de Boutenac sandstones are carved in hard limestone and on which grows old Carignan and Mourvèdre vines, with late-ripening grapes of excellence. Here you can taste a powerful wine with silky tannins.

Finally, you come to the pinnacle with the icon cuvee Fleur Elysée, born from a selection plot on the soil of Pech Ténarel Boutenac. In this instance the cuvée was baptized not in honor of its terroir but rather in that of the Fleur de Lys, emblem of the Kings of France.

For the anecdote, note that the Fleur de Lys is also the emblem of the Quebecois, loyal consumers and first ambassadors of the wines of Jean-Noël Bousquet ; and without whom the adventure would never have been possible.
